Where it fits
This workflow suits offices that depend on their computers but do not have a dedicated IT department. It provides a way to review what needs attention and agree maintenance before handling each device as a separate support request.
A practical workflow
- Approve the devices to be managed and agree support access, responsibilities and the maintenance process before enrolment.
- Review outstanding updates, antivirus and firewall status, storage warnings and inventory information with the support provider.
- Prioritise the findings, agree any disruptive work and check the resulting device status and support record afterwards.
What to confirm
Confirm the supported operating systems, scope of service and access arrangements. Device monitoring complements appropriate backups, security practices and staff procedures. It does not guarantee protection from every attack, prevent all downtime or establish certification.
